Privacy Policy
Baltio is a community app for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, published by BabulTech. This policy explains what we hold about you, who can see it, and what you can do about it. We collect only what the app needs in order to work.
Last updated 13 September 2026
What we collect
Everything below is entered by you, in the app:
- Identity: your name, username, date of birth, gender, and your CNIC number if you are 19 or older.
- Contact: your email address and WhatsApp or mobile number.
- Where you are from: your village, district and division, and your current address if you give one.
- Approximate location: your city, if you grant location permission. We use a coarse location only, to show your city and nearby events. We do not track your movements.
- Background: education, employment, skills, and an approximate salary band if you choose to enter one.
- Family: immediate family members and dependents, if you add them.
- Photos: your profile picture and any images you attach to a post or a marketplace listing.
- Activity in the app: your posts, comments, quiz answers, course progress, bids, orders and points.
One thing is collected without you entering it:
- Crash reports: if the app crashes, a report is sent with the technical details of the failure, your phone model and Android version, the app version, and your member ID so we can tell how many people are affected. It contains none of your profile, messages or posts.
Why we ask for a CNIC
Baltio is a closed community, not an open network. An administrator checks each new member before a membership ID is issued, and the CNIC is how an adult member is confirmed to be a real person from the region. It is never shown to other members and never leaves our systems.
Who can see what
- Your posts are visible to other members once approved, and only to the audience you chose: everyone, your village, or the people who follow you.
- Sensitive details (your CNIC, phone number, date of birth, address, salary, family and dependents) are never shown to other members. The database refuses those requests, not just the app.
- Your points, rank and qualification are shown to members who follow you and whom you follow back.
- Administrators can see what they need to review members and content, and every sensitive action they take is recorded in an audit log.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not give it to advertisers. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and Baltio carries no third-party advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase: database, file storage and sign-in.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: push notifications.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports.
- Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in that way.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and held on secure servers.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. Posts older than seven days leave the timeline but remain in the database so they can still be found by search and opened by a link.
Your choices
- Correct it: every field is editable in Settings → My profile.
- Download it: Settings → Account → Privacy → Download my data.
- Delete it: Settings → Account → Privacy → Delete my account, or from our account deletion page without installing the app.
- Control notifications: Settings → Alerts.
See how to delete your account and what happens to your data.
Children
Baltio is intended for people aged 13 and over. Members under 19 are not asked for a CNIC. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top, and note the change in the app.
